Hello Online Sequencer! It's time to announce the 2025 June Monthly Contest!
This month's theme is special, as it's the 2024 winner's choice month! This month's theme is to create a sequence combining two opposing themes of your choosing. For reference, some examples of opposing themes could be hot and cold, light and shadow, minimalism and complexity, modern and ancient, and order and chaos.
General Information
The entry period is from 6/1 ~ 6/21 (11:59 PM EST). Winners will be announced on 6/30/2025!
While we will post general notes on every contest, please refer to the Monthly Contest announcement thread for more details on Monthly Contests themselves.
Entry limit of 2 sequences per person.
Committee members are allowed to enter the contests, but will not enter their example sequence nor will they vote for their own entry.
Sequences made prior to the current Monthly Contest are allowed, although entering the same sequence in different Monthly Contests is not. If you are unsure about whether or not you have entered a sequence in a previous monthly contest, a list of all the sequences that have been entered into previous monthly contests can be found here.
Making a remix of an existing song is allowed.
Editing an entry after the entry period is strictly prohibited and will result in that entry being disqualified.
You cannot "collaborate" with alt accounts. Abusing alts to circumvent the 2 entries per person rule is not allowed.
Entries that are collaborations should not be posted on a shared alt account. They should be posted to the account of one of the collaborators. You cannot enter a sequence on another account's behalf.
The standard Online Sequencer Rules will apply and any entries violating a rule will automatically be disqualified.
I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with. Good luck to you all!
We have decided to try something a bit new this month: Sequencer Spotlight! This is a way for us to recognize specific members of our community for their accomplishments, and make their works known to the rest of the Online Sequencer userbase. Every month, we will hold a week-long nomination phase and a week-long voting phase. Anybody with an account can vote, and you can even nominate yourself if you believe you're worthy of the spotlight. However, you may only nominate up to three users (alts are not allowed!). After a winner is selected, we will release a social media post or a short video covering the accomplishments they have achieved in the Online Sequencer community.
Sequencer Spotlight is a way for the Online Sequencer team to recognize specific members of our community for their compositions, engagement, and support. Please vote for users based on aspects like their composition style or their kindness---don't just vote for someone because they're your friend! The winner of the spotlight will receive exclusive social media coverage on the Online Sequencer socials, as well as a shout-out on the forum.

Earlier today, Online Sequencer was hit with a flurry of legal action from UMG and WMG, including demands to take down a significant portion of the website's sequences and for stricter moderation of all user created sequences going forward. The consensus between the mod team and Jacob is that we cannot reasonably enforce these demands at the moment. Since they were made under threat of immediate and severe legal action, we are forced to sadly shut down the website for the foreseeable future to protect ourselves.
This is just as difficult a decision for us to make as it is for you to hear. Information available to the mod team is still incomplete, and we will provide updates in the discord as we receive them. For now, what we do know is that you have until 12pm PDT tomorrow, April 2nd, to back up your sequences locally before our servers shut down and you risk losing them forever. We are deeply sorry to make this decision, but our hand has been forced.
It's been a great 12 years of sequencing online. We hope your music careers continue to flourish elsewhere.
The entry period is from 3/1 ~ 3/21 (11:59 PM EST). Winners will be announced on 3/31/2024!
