Hello Online Sequencer, it's the SPOOKY MONTH! That means it's time to announce the 2019 October Monthly Contest!
It's time to get your spooky on, but not in the way you might think! Instead of going for all out creepy music, make something more casual.....make trick-or-treating music!
General Information
The entry period is from 9/1 ~ 9/21 (11:59 PM EST) this time as it has started later. Winners will be announced on 9/30!
While we will post general notes on every contest, please refer to the Monthly Contest announcement thread for more details on Monthly Contests themselves.
Entry limit of 2 sequences per person.
Committee members are allowed to enter the contests, but will not enter their example sequence nor will they vote for their own entry.
Sequences made prior to the current Monthly Contest are allowed, although entering the same sequence in different Monthly Contests is not.
Making a remix of an existing song is allowed.
Editing an entry after the entry period is strictly prohibited and will result in that entry being disqualified.
Collaborations on entries are allowed, but any points that the piece might receive are divided up equally between the contributors.
The standard Online Sequencer Rules will apply and any entries violating a rule will automatically be disqualified.
I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. Good luck to you all!

Hello Online Sequencer! It's been nearly a year since the event committee has formed, and, sadly to say, many of the people who have joined the committee have either left or neglected their obligations for the roles they signed up for. Therefore we have decided to expand out the committee to allow more people who want to help into the committee.
Below are the different Sections of the committee that are taking in new members, if you want to join any of them, make sure to read that section of the committee and reply to this thread stating any parts of the committee that you would like to join.
Please Note! There are some qualifications that need to be met in order to join the committee. These qualifications are meant to ensure that any applications are genuine and that any users who apply will meet their obligations if chosen to be added. The qualifications are:
You must have a discord account (please include it in your application).
You must have had an account for at least 3 months.
You must have familiarity with Online Sequencer, but most importantly the chat and forum.
Name at least 5 usernames of people on this site that are not already found in this thread and that I know.
You must have a good standing with the OS community and its' staff.
You must be consistently active on this site.
Lastly, before we get to the parts of the committee that are accepting members, if you make an application, I will react to it to let you know the state of your application. Here are what the different reactions mean:
means that you have been automatically accepted. I know you well, I know you have good intentions to support the site and the community!
means that you have been accepted. I don't know you that well, but you still meet all requirements of above. I expect some good work.
means you were rejected for not being able to follow requirements or for behavior reasons.
means you have been filed for further consideration. I know you, but I will still need to see a better demonstration for what you can contribute to this group.
means I would like to consider you for the committee, but due to long periods of inactivity, you have not been accepted. Please demonstrate a frequent attendance in OS.
means I have doubt over your ability to communicate with people in the chat, you should be able to communicate well to create good events. Please demonstrate respectable social behavior. Otherwise, you fit the other rules.
Now, onto the different sections of the committee!
Monthly Contest Voting Committee Help the maintain the monthly contests behind the scenes!
Obligations:
Once a month, vote for the contest entries that you think should win during the voting period (the 22nd until the last day of the month).
Optional:
Help decide what the themes of future monthly contests will be.
Help create prizes for the future monthly contests.
Note: joining this section of the committee does not prevent you from entering the monthly contests, although you will not be allowed to vote for your own entries.
Community Committee Come up with event ideas for the Online Sequencer community!
Events should...
be realistic. While it's good to be creative in thinking of events, don't try to make something so huge that it will fall flat on it's face.
be unique from the monthly contests. Unless there is a special reason for it, if you want a sequence-creating contest as an event, save it for a monthly contest theme.
Obligations:
Once your event has been approved and you put it into action, don't back out before the event has finished. Maintain your events until completion.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt Planning Committee Help plan out the Halloween Scavenger Hunt Event!
Obligations:
Find hiding spots for the "candies" that users will need to find and create clues leading to those hiding spots for the Halloween Scavenger Hunt Event each year!
Please Note: this event will only happen if enough users join to help find hiding spots. Being a part of this section of the event committee will prevent you from participating in this event.
Easter Egg Hunt Planning Committee Help plan out the Easter Egg Hunt Event!

Find hiding spots for the "eggs" that users will need to find in the Easter Egg Hunt each year!
Please Note: this event will only happen if enough users join to help find hiding spots. Being a part of this section of the event committee will prevent you from participating in this event.
I hope to see some of you wanting to help make the OS Community even better!

My name is Alex and I would like to announce the 1st Round of the Battle of the Beats.
The Challenge Is: Back in Black - AC/DC
##1092225
Add a beat to this. Whoever makes a decent enough beat to this will progress. ADD ONLY DRUMS TO THE TRACK. No adding extra to what's there Those that don't listen will be disqualified
My name is Alex and I would like to announce the 1st ever Battle of the Beats. Sign up down below if you would like to participate. Winner will be announced on August 5th
Overview: The Battle of the Beats is hosted by the OS Event Committee that happens during the month of July. This is a tournament of Online Sequencer composers who specialize in percussion. There are 5 rounds. The first round, round of 16, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, and the finals. Each round except the preliminaries are 1v1 and will have to do a beat challenge to progress. The voting is up to community vote. At the end, we will have a hierarchy of beatmakers.
I have 3 motives on why i want to do this contest.
Motives:
To rank all percussionist users so that we have a general categorization
If users want to find a percussionist for a collab, they can see the list and figure out who they want to have them help them on their project
This would be a fun community activity to bring us together
First Round- Anyone can sign up and join (Release Date: July 1st. Entry Deadline: July 5th. Voting deadline: July 7th) | Round of 16- The 16 that made it from the first round (Release Date: July 8th. I have a feeling that we might get a barrage of steel drums....anyway, good luck!
Hello everyone. I would like to address a several things pertaining to yesterday's events. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, then it's best that you don't dig too much into it.
For those who are aware of what I'm talking about, this isn't the first time that OS has banned for... long distance relationships.
I can't stop you from having one, but please be aware of what you are getting into, especially if you're underage. What you do can also affect the owners of the platform you're using, in this case, Online Sequencer. As dumb as it may sound, we REALLY don't want this site to shut down because we broke the law.
We have been given full permission by Jacob to do what we needed to. I know I can seem harsh and unserious about my job, but I wouldn't comply with banning a reputable person without a solid reason. The worst thing that you can do is pressure the staff about it. We're already trying our best to investigate events and the less stress we have to deal with, the faster we can finish our investigation and get a statement like this to you guys ASAP.
Serious matters like these aren't handled in public and left out of discussion for a reason, and we would like you to respect this. As much as possible we'd like to keep the toxicity on the site at a minimum so that others may enjoy their time on the sequencer.
I might write more since I feel I'm missing something here, so check back in case there are updates with this statement. Happy sequencing guys. Please stay safe.
